The Story

Not quite country. Not quite jazz. Somehow, Texas native Ken Beasley manages to tap into Flamenco, Motown, Country, Classical, Disco, Blues, and Folk to create an adventurous sound all his own. Borrowing from his years as a flamenco guitarist, Beasley presents his rootsy compositions on a nylon-string guitar in unique finger-style rhythms. The forms blend seamlessly to produce a mood that smoothly balances cozy and familiar with exciting and fresh.

In addition to this solo project, Ken has played bass and guitar for respected NY songwriter (and founder of the FAST FOLK music magazine and the Greenwhich Village Songwriter Exchange) Jack Hardy, supporting Hardy both on tour and in the studio, and has also toured with fellow songwriters Andy Germak and Jim Allen as one third of the musical trio Song Triangle. Always compelled to keep a hand or foot in at least one new musical venture, Ken currently spends much time as lead guitarist of the power-punk three-piece known as Missy Sport, and performing as part of the Fluxus inspired performance collective FLUXCONCERT.

"...an accomplished flamenco guitarist, (Beasley) foregrounds his considerable ax skills more than most singer-songwriters, but his newly released GREENHORN disc focuses on his smoky voice and the unhurried pacing of his roots-pop tunes." - TIME OUT NY
